Acute Care

Early therapeutic intervention helps ensure that patients will progress through the rehabilitation process as quickly as possible without lapses in care. This therapy may include wound care, sterile whirlpool, ultrasound, debridement and edema control. Adaptive equipment assessments will also be addressed in order to achieve a certain level of independence prior to receiving a prosthesis. The occupational therapist also helps with scar management, range of motion, soft tissue mobilization and desensitization, all of which are necessary for comfortable and optimal prosthetic use and function.
