Lauren Scruggs nearly died when she was hit by a spinning plane propellor in December 2011. She suffered traumatic brain injury, and the loss of her left hand and her left eye. As she recovered, Lauren began using two prostheses, one designed specifically for swimming, and another for workouts and boxing. She also has two cosmetically finished prosthetic hands: a passive custom silicone restoration and a myoelectric hand with custom silicone restoration. Together with her twin sister and her parents, Lauren wrote Still Lolo, a book that shares their experiences with the devastating accident and Lauren's hopeful recovery.
